Pattern Energy to help advance renewable energy opportunities for First Nations

October 5, 2022

The First Nations Major Projects Coalition (FNMPC) recently announced that Pattern Energy has been selected as the renewable energy member of its Sustaining Partner Program.

The program furthers FNMPC’s ability to advance relationships between its members and the private sector on issues of mutual interest. The program is focused on advancing progressive Indigenous business initiatives between the partners and members.

“Pattern Energy shares FNMPC’s vision for Indigenous equity ownership in net zero-focused energy and climate solutions infrastructure projects, says Chief Sharleen Gale, Chair of FNMPC. “The commitment made by Pattern Energy to join the FNMPC Sustaining Partners group supports our most important work. It allows FNMPC to create pathways to reconciliation by working closely with a select group of private sector partners who share our vision for meaningful Indigenous inclusion in the economic mainstream of Canada.”

“Pattern Energy believes that meaningful engagement and partnership with Indigenous communities on the development and operation of renewable energy projects help advance our shared objectives,” says Frank Davis, Canada Country Head for Pattern Energy. “Collaborations on renewable energy projects will create strong and long-lasting economic benefits for Indigenous communities. Our collaboration on these initiatives will be essential in advancing the Canadian renewables sector toward meeting our country’s 2030 and 2050 emissions reduction and decarbonization goals.”

As a Sustaining Partner, Pattern Energy will participate in FNMPC’s annual conference and benefit from an exclusive working relationship with FNMPC, specifically designed to advance stronger business relationships with Indigenous communities outside of a project-specific environment.
