Keeping Meals On Wheels On The Road

August 9, 2022

A recent grant is helping put the “wheels” in Meals on Wheels in Chatham-Kent.

St. Andrew’s Residence has received a three-year $30,000 to go towards the purchase of a new delivery van for its Meals on Wheels program.

The grant was provided by the Chatham Kent Community Foundation and the South Kent Wind Community Fund.

“The van allows us to deliver meals throughout Chatham-Kent to communities like Blenheim, Thamesville, Tilbury, Merlin, Highgate, Ridgetown and Chatham,” said Lynn McGeachy, the executive director of the St. Andrew’s Residence Foundation. “We are so grateful to the Community Foundation and South Kent Wind, who have helped us with the purchase of this new vehicle so that we can continue to care for the community of which we are a part.”

Last year, the Meals on Wheels program served almost 35,000 meals with the help of hundreds of volunteers who support the program.
